3 child nutrition professionals share insights into setting up coronavirus service programs

Directors from Houston ISD, Minneapolis Public Schools and Londonderry School District also talk about the financial impact of COVID-19

When schools are closed, millions of children who rely on school nutrition programs could be left without food. But that’s where child nutrition professionals step in, serving thousands of meals to not only students but also their families. From grab and go to home delivery and food trucks, we speak with three districts on the solutions they’ve found to feed kids while keeping their employees on the front lines safe.

In this webinar from Food Management and sponsor Simplot, the three child nutrition leaders on this panel were: Betti Wiggins, officer of nutrition services at the Houston Independent School District; Bertrand Weber, director of culinary and wellness services at Minneapolis Public Schools; and Amanda Venezia, director of dining services at Londonderry School District in New Hampshire.

The three panelists shared insights into setting up their own type of meal distribution service, challenges with the supply chain and the deep financial impact the coronavirus pandemic has had. This session is available on demand.
