K-12 On Demand: Sacramento USD’s Diana Flores on her district’s new food truck

The Sacramento City USD will be rolling out a food truck this school year to supplement its meal program with a high-impact additional service platform.

FM On Demand and K-12 On Demand are video interviews with onsite dining professionals who talk about creative and interesting initiatives they have developed or undertaken.

The Sacramento City Unified School District debuted its new Central Kitchen Food Truck at a local Farm-to-Fork Festival last month and will be sending it out to its school sites to supplement its traditional cafeteria meal service later this school year. The truck, purchased through grants from the No Kid Hungry organization, is intended to give the school meal program a high-interest addition and a way to reach more students.

In this FM On Demand interview, Director of Nutrition Services Diana Flores talks about the rationale for getting the truck, how it will operate and what it will be serving.
